Yup, moved this to a new site and made some cosmetic changes. This does NOT mean I'm
starting work on it again, as I still haven't played since quitting in
January of 2004. Here's the deal--if you want higher-level renkei data
updated, or bugs fixed, or whatever, just send me specific, accurate and easy-to-understand
info and I'll do my best. Or you could drop me an email for the sources and take over
maintenance of the code. The code itself is all perl.
[Tue Dec 23 13:06:52 PST 2003]
Fixed Bow skills.
[Mon Dec 22 16:41:34 PST 2003]
Changed around the main page, things should be much cleaner now. The big change is that you
are no longer required to specify a WS level for the weapon! Simply choose the main job
and job level for the player. My script will assume this player has his skill in a particular
weapon capped (as 99.999% of good players will). These are based on the formula's I've found
to calculate WS caps. Note that at the moment this calculator treats lvl 71-75 as if they
were using the 61-70 formulas -- I haven't found the new formulas yet. The other change
you'll notice is that you can only supply four players now, not six. Six was pointless.
[Fri Dec 19 17:01:16 PST 2003]
Added the functionality to filter by level.
[Thu Dec 18 13:08:39 PST 2003]
Added functionality to filter by element, and fixed a bug with graph generation not
self-linking applicable WS.
[Mon Dec 8 18:33:41 PST 2003]
Fixed a bug that would cause consequtive skillchains to only parse the current
priority of the weapon skill, not all three (where applicable).
[Mon Nov 24 17:15:09 PST 2003]
Thanks to Faustum for finding an error about the class restrictions not working.
This has been fixed. Fixed another bug concerning individuals going twice the
same round.
[Mon Nov 24 14:51:22 PST 2003]
Sorry for the bad service the past 20 minutes, I've wrote a new subfunction to trim out
the non-complete renkei again. Redundant skillchains are not shown, which should help
the readability of the tables.
[Mon Nov 24 13:46:58 PST 2003]
A giant thanks to Robert F. for informing me that "Detonstion" was supposed to be
"Detonation". This was along the lines of what I was thinking, the 's' being so close to
the 'a' on a qwerty keyboard and all, but the PDF was so damned consistent that it
made me feel like the author was set on this being called "Detonstion", the point that
it was probably a mass-search-and-replace notwithstanding. In any case, thanks again
Robert for the confirmation!

My boyfriend had a great idea over the weekend which I ignored at the time. Today, however,
I see the inherent wisdom in his idea and thus have implimented it. You won't see anything
noticable, but the method for graph generation has changed slightly. Where before I would
simply generate a new graph with every request (the four-digit number.gif files were named
by the PID of the perl script generating the graph) I now concat all the available skills
and md5 this, using that as a filename. This means eventually most common combinations of
skills will have a pre-made graph available. As per his suggestion, I have also renamed
this the "Skillchain calculator" instead of Renkei calculator.
You also may have noticed a ton of duplicate skillchain listings. This has been fixed.

D'oh, recursive loops are frickin' prone to errors. Fixed one of these, sorry for working
on the live site. If you got odd results in the past 20 minutes just try again.
[Sat Nov 22 13:34:00 PST 2003]
I had an error in the script that caused only level 2 renkei to be displayed. This has been
fixed. The output is a bit longer now (by bit I mean much), it is reccomended if you have level 2
renkei available that you try to use them at the end.
[Fri Nov 21 15:27:55 PST 2003]
OK, I made made a ton of changes, enough to make this basically "version 2". I
put that in quotes because this is a complete rewrite, not an update. The code is all
new, the data files are all new -- EVERYTHING is all new :) One big change you'll notice is the
script now only returns full chains. For example, if A -> B -> C then I'll only show that,
not A -> B and A -> B -> C. This should make it easier to read.
Also, the one Engrish word I was unable to translate is "Detonstion". If someone knows what
this word is supposed to be, PLEASE tell me!
Basically, the
way I thought renkei worked was wrong, finally someone told me to look at this PDF
chart which (after around an hour of intense study) helped me understand how renkei
actually work. I still havn't coded support for level 3 renkei, but that can come
later. When I'm not a total noob, eh? Anyhow, please keep sending errors to dranok at liquid dash x dot net!
